Shape Maker lets you create your own laser-cut MDF and acrylic shapes, made to your measurements. Choose a shape, select your material, enter your dimensions and see your design come together in the live preview.
You can experiment with different shapes, sizes, materials and quantities, with pricing automatically updated as you go. Once you're happy with your design, simply add it to your cart.
Choosing Your Shape
I've included a range of shapes, each with its own measurements and design options.
Circles, Ovals & Rings: Round and elliptical shapes, including options with internal cutouts. Depending on the shape, measurements are based on diameter, width or height.
Squares, Rectangles & Polygons: Straight-edged shapes, including triangles, hexagons and octagons. Hexagons and octagons are measured between parallel sides rather than corner to corner.
Shapes Within Shapes: Combine an outside shape with an internal opening, including Circle in Square, Square in Square, Square in Circle and Circle in Hexagon. You can adjust the outside dimensions and internal cutout independently, within the designer's limits.
Arches & Tear Drops: More specialised shapes with additional options for their proportions, openings and corners.
Some shapes also offer rounded corners, allowing you to adjust the corner radius to suit your design.
Designing Your Shapes
A few things worth keeping in mind:

Measurements: Check how your selected shape is measured, particularly polygons and shapes with internal openings.

Minimum Material Width: All shapes with an internal cutout have a minimum material width of 3mm between their outside and inside cut paths, as thinner sections may become less durable.

Rounded Corners: Changing the corner radius changes the finished outline, so check the preview carefully.

Internal Cutouts: Any designs with internal cuts of at least 10mm in both width and depth or diameter will also have the centre piece included.

Acrylic Colours: Colours and transparency may appear slightly different in person compared with your screen.

Materials & Manufacturing
MDF is a versatile material with a smooth surface that's easy to paint, glue and work with. Laser cutting leaves a characteristic dark brown edge.
Acrylic is available in various solid, transparent, translucent and fluorescent colours. It produces clean, smooth cut edges and comes with protective film on both sides to help prevent scratches during transport.

- Discuss your needs: Contact me with what you need, and I’ll confirm whether it can be made.
- Check the price: Where possible, I'll get you to use the closest standard Shape Maker options to see the approximate per-piece price. I can quote more complicated jobs by email.
- Add your instructions: Enter the agreed details in the Custom Requirements box, or simply write “see discussion”. These details stay with that item through your cart and checkout.
- Standard orders: If you’re ordering directly from the normal Shape Maker options, leave the Custom Requirements box blank.
Custom cutting fee: A setup fee applies to custom work to cover design and laser setup. When you use the Custom Requirements box, this fee is automatically spread across the quantity ordered and included in the per-piece price shown on this page. Once in your cart, the cutting fee will appear as a separate line item, no longer included in the per-piece price.
Come back for more: I keep your custom cutting files on hand for future orders, so you won’t need to pay the setup fee again for the same cut.
